Great for complex searches.

Search engine specialized in finding images.
Encyclopediae Britannica
Search the entire volume of last years edition of Encyclopediae Britannica.

A nice alternative to Google, AltaVista or Yahoo.
InfoSeek
The mother of all search engines. Can be a bit slow at US office hours for example.
Google
The best search engine for single or two word searches.
Lycos
Free text searches and categorised pages.
MetaCrawler
Searches a couple of search engines at once. Your search words are emphasized
in the hit-list.
WebCrawler
Thorough searches, bit slow though.
WhoWhere?
Search for people's e-mail addresses worldwide.
Yahoo
Good categorized searches. Very good if you want a list of pages within a certain
subject/region/etc.
YellowPages
The American Yellow Pages online.
